Prohibited Items
Last updated: June 30, 2026
SaltyShelf may reject or remove items that are illegal, unsafe, misleading, carrier-restricted, or outside the marketplace's supported categories.
Not Allowed
- Illegal wildlife, unlawfully collected livestock, protected species, or items requiring permits the seller does not have.
- Hazardous materials, unsafe chemicals, restricted medications, or items that cannot be legally or safely shipped.
- Stolen goods, counterfeit goods, copied photos, fake brand claims, or misrepresented items.
- Items that violate carrier rules, local laws, state laws, federal laws, or import/export restrictions.
- Unsupported categories or fulfillment methods during beta, including local pickup when the site does not support it.
Restricted or Reviewable Items
Some reef livestock, coral, equipment, chemicals, or regulated goods may require extra documentation, shipping limits, or review. When in doubt, do not list the item until SaltyShelf confirms it is allowed.
Seller Responsibility
Sellers are responsible for knowing whether an item is legal to sell, ship, and receive. SaltyShelf approval of a listing does not remove seller responsibility for legal compliance.
Enforcement
SaltyShelf may remove listings, reject seller applications, suspend seller access, or take other action when prohibited or restricted items are listed.
